
How many cat breeds are there? It depends on which source you consult, as many breeds are either in the early developmental stages, have been recognized in the area in which they evolved but not elsewhere, or are only recognized by one or two cat associations. My research suggests that there are 116 partially or fully established breeds as of December 2019.
