The photos in the Metaphorical Platypus photo gallery are free and you don't need to notify me to use them. Just add the following attribution to the Web page on which the photos are used:

The photos in this gallery are copyright of Jennifer Copley, but as long as a link back is provided, they may be copied and used for any purpose, commercial or noncommercial, with the following exceptions. These photos may not be used on websites or print materials that:

• Have illegal content
• Encourage violence or hate (i.e., homophobia, racism, etc.)
• Promote medications that are not FDA-approved or for which there is no empirical scientific evidence supporting their use
• Contain personal attacks on others

Also, these photos may not be sold or used to create a photo gallery.

Those copying these photos assume all legal risks arising from their use. Many of these photos have been taken in public spaces. As such, if a complaint is made regarding infringement of the rights of entities or individuals, the photo in question must be removed immediately.

 

About the Gallery

I created this gallery to provide free access to photos that people can use for online articles, blogs, and websites without having to register or worry about complicated licensing arrangements, fees, and notification requirements.

I'm not a professional photographer and don't know anything about composition or other aspects of the art, so the quality is variable and the more impressive pictures are the result of luck rather than skill. The photos in the gallery are of beautiful places I've hiked through, animals that were kind enough to pose for me, buildings that caught my eye, and random quirky things I've encountered along the way.

The photos in this gallery are intended for Web use. Right now I don't have the time to make large, high-resolution print quality versions of the pictures available.
