Taurus Taurus Personality

Taurus Traits: Practical, reliable, stubborn, jealous, laid back, hardworking, comfort-loving, domestic, stable, change-avoidant, self-indulgent, tenacious, strong, successful

Taurus people usually make very good friends because they tend to be trustworthy and loyal, unless the ascendant falls in a more fickle sign of the zodiac. They’ll go out of their way to help a friend in need, and this help will usually be very tangible and practical. Taurus people believe in solid actions rather than words, and most follow through on their promises. The same traits that make Taurus people such good friends also make them good prospects as business partners.

Laid Back and Tolerant

Taurus people are laid back, tolerant and easy-going. They tend to be diplomatic, and it takes a lot to get them angry. However, on those rare occasions when they are pushed too far and they blow up, they can be dangerous to themselves and others. When crossed, Taureans hold grudges forever. Most of the time they’re placid and easy to get along with, however, and their nonjudgmental nature puts others at ease.

Domestic and Hospitable

Taureans like to attend parties or entertain, but they are also homebodies and if they do travel, they prefer to do it in comfort rather than roughing it. Unless they have the ascendant in a fire sign, they usually don’t like to get cold and dirty, though most do like outdoorsy pursuits such as hikes, picnics and days at the beach.

Taurus people tend to be good cooks and hosts. They often collect attractive things, decorate nicely, and their homes are very cozy and enjoyable for those who visit. Taurus people not only like comfort for themselves but try to make others comfortable as well, both physically and psychologically. Spending time with a Taurus friend usually involves good meals or tasty treats in a relaxing atmosphere.

Hardworking and Successful

Taurus people tend to acquire money and become successful in the long run. This slow and steady progress is attributable to reliability and a good work ethic. Taureans are usually quite responsible with money, unless the ascendant falls in a fire or air sign. They have a phobia of poverty and will work very hard to avoid this. Taureans prefer to stick with one field and work their way up rather than jumping from job to job (unless the ascendant is in Aries, Gemini, Sagittarius or Aquarius), and they usually impress their bosses with diligence, reliability and integrity.

Reliable and Trustworthy

Taurus people are usually honest and trustworthy. They are not inclined to be phony or play mind games, and most of them can be relied on to do what they say they’ll do and be where they say they’ll be. Most are sexually faithful (unless the ascendant is in a more impulsive sign), and they demand the same of their partners. Some Taureans can be excessively jealous and will be provoked to fits of rage by a partner’s flirting. Taurus people are very passionate in both their anger and their sensuality.

Change-Avoidant and Stubborn

Taureans are very stable, sane and consistent, almost to a fault. Taurus is by far the most stable sign of the zodiac and this stems from an aversion to change. Taurus people can dig ruts for themselves and become very predictable (though having the ascendant in a more dynamic and excitement-seeking sign can mitigate this).

Decadent and Self-Indulgent

Despite their excellent work ethic, around the house Taureans can be lazy and self-indulgent if they have no hobbies to possess them. It is important for Taurus people to get lots of exercise, as they have a tendency to overeat, which can lead to weight gain, though this is far less likely if the ascendant is in Virgo, Capricorn or Aquarius. Taureans like to dress up in nice clothing, and most also enjoy occasions that require costumes.

A Talent for Arts and Crafts

Taurus people aren’t particularly inventive or original (unless the ascendant is in Aquarius), but they usually have some artistic or musical talents. They may not create unique things, but they have the follow-through to produce, recreate or improve upon the ideas of others. When the ascendant in a more creative sign (such as Gemini, Cancer, Leo or Pisces), Taureans can create beautiful and inspirational things as they have a natural talent for aesthetics. They are usually very good at making things that last, and many of them are drawn to the building trades as a result.

High Endurance and Strength

The fact that Taurus people are especially sensitive to uncomfortable conditions (cold, damp, hard furniture, etc.) can give the impression that they are not particularly strong but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Taurus people have an incredible amount of physical strength and endurance. The only signs that can compare with Taurus for sheer will power, determination, tenacity and long-term endurance are Scorpio and Capricorn.

Taurus people have naturally strong bodies that are usually a bit stocky and quite muscular. They have a tendency to be slightly clumsy, which keeps some of them out of certain sports, but the higher-than-average physical strength and endurance they possess will suit some of them to certain athletic pursuits. They are more suited to sports and jobs requiring physical power and endurance than those based on grace and speed.

Tactile, Kinetic Learners

Taurus people like to absorb everything fully and learn through touch and experience rather than by reading or hearing about things. As tactile and kinetic learners, they need to interact with their environments in order to learn. As a result, some of them have trouble at school because it is the wrong sort of learning environment for them. The Taurean work ethic usually ensures that they do well enough to get by, but they learn more effectively when given the opportunity to experience things firsthand.
